I’m excited to announce that Ray Tubes is partnering with Audiopax to bring our vacuum tubes to their range of tube audio products.
Audiopax has been on the forefront of tube audio for almost thirty years. Driven by a desire to challenge the assumptions of tube amp design, founder Eduardo de Lima put the company on the map with the classic Model 88 amp, featuring Audiopax’s unique Timbre Lock and Ideal Device Simulator systems. The Model 88 won awards all over the world and appeared on the covers of many industry publications, cementing it as one of the most significant developments in 21st century tube audio.
In 2011, Audiopax turned its attention to a new initiative: the Maggiore series of single-ended reference preamps and amps. The Maggiore M100 premiered at the Munich High End Show, where it, too, garnered nothing but the highest acclaim. Sadly, Eduardo passed away in 2012, but his work has been carried on by his son, Lucas, and current owner Sílvio Pereira. Together, Lucas and Sílvio have paid tribute to Eduardo’s legacy with comprehensive reference systems that garner “best of show” accolades wherever they go. Their latest line, named simply Reference, is an audacious exercise in marrying musicality and transparency--two characteristics that are typically considered mutually exclusive.
I’m a big admirer of the innovation Audiopax has built its brand on. Their success at trades fair in Brazil and abroad—not to mention the countless awards their products have won over the years—vindicates the work they put into trying something new. It’s an honor for Ray Tubes to join that legacy of innocation.
