conrad-johnson
Conrad-Johnson is an American manufacturer of vacuum tube preamplifiers, power amplifiers, phono stages, and headphone amplifiers, founded in Fairfax, Virginia in 1977 by economists Dr. William Conrad and Dr. Lewis Johnson. Their first preamplifier was immediately recognized as a state of the art design, and the company has built every product by hand in the USA since, using proprietary CJD film capacitors, custom transformers, and precision resistors sourced from North American suppliers. Both founders were inducted into The Absolute Sound's High End Audio Hall of Fame in 2020, and the company continues today under general manager Jeff Fischel, who joined in the late 1980s and now leads development of the current ART series lineup.
