Shindo Laboratory

Shindo Laboratory is a Japanese audio brand founded in Tokyo in 1977 by Ken Shindo, a former Matsushita design engineer who built his amplifiers and preamplifiers by hand from vintage and new old stock parts. The company became known for naming its products after fine French wines, for finishing every chassis in a signature green, and for designing circuits around the character of a chosen tube rather than chasing higher power figures, with EL34 and 300B models long anchoring the line. Since Ken Shindo's passing in 2014, the company has continued under his wife Harumi and sons Takashi and Yoshinobu, who carry forward the same handbuilt approach that built Shindo's reputation among collectors and reviewers worldwide.
